The weather has not been very nice here in the valley for about 2 weeks now, it's been very, very drippy and Little Buddy, Babs and I are all tired of being indoors. Babs has been fighting a pretty bad cold/cough for several days now and in the afternoons, when I would normally kick them both out of the house for some outside play and ice smashing fun, have decided against it and have kept them inside, warm and dry. Cabin Fever is setting in and I keep glancing out my kitchen window to look up at the Little Mountain and see what the clouds are doing. They are low today...more rain is in our future.
It can be a tricky thing trying to keep a 4 year old and a sick 3 year old busy during this extended indoor period, but this afternoon I set them both up at the table with a crafty project inspired by Gillian at Tales from a happy house: painting toilet paper tubes. Ha ha. Actually that was only part of the project and it kept them happily busy for almost an entire half hour...the wonders of toilet paper tubes and paint. We were able to finish our little creations in the evening after the paint dried. Just look at what we've made...
It's our little family!!! Little Buddy, Brad, Me, Babs, and a cat that we don't have but that Babs insisted that we make. Sweet girl. After silly Mama took pictures of them (but forgot to move the spoon off of the table and the vacuum from the background), the Littles proceeded to zoom the family about in one of Little Buddy's cars while I cooked dinner. Brilliant!
January has been a long month and I am looking forward to Spring. I am really excited to start gardening again. I set up my grow lights in the dining room this year because the garage is just too cold for my baby plants. It's not the most attractive arrangement, but it works beautifully. Just look: Basil, Onions, and Oregano so far...
During these cold winter months I have been planning my veggie and medicinal herb garden, going over the seed catalogs again and again, creating lists, drawing plans, dreaming, and waiting for the sun to peek through the clouds.
Some things that I am thankful for today:
Cooperation...
Lovely bright colors, a work in progress...
Hope that you are having a sunshiny day! xoxo
